L'histoire du cru est liée au château d'Ollwiller, au pied du coteau, qui appartint successivement aux comtes de Ferrette, à des moines cisterciens et aux comtes Waldner. Le vignoble a été dévasté par l'artillerie française en 1915 et 1916, lors de la bataille du Hartmannswillerkopf. Il se trouve juste au sud de Wuenheim, exposé sud-sud-est entre 260 et 330 m.
