A tax on Rosacker wine is first recorded in 1483, and a burgher of Ribeauvillé owned vines there by 1497. The slope faces south-east between 260 and 330 m, between Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr, on marl-limestone soil over partly dolomitised Muschelkalk limestone. Trimbach's Clos Sainte Hune lies in the middle of the grand cru.
