The Eichberg is split in two: a northern part on gentle south slopes just south of Eguisheim at 220 to 260 m, and a southern part east of Husseren-les-Châteaux at 260 to 340 m. Its soils are Oligocene limestone conglomerate and marl, with sandstone pebbles giving a stony, sometimes siliceous clay. It was one of the 24 lieux-dits added to the grands crus in 1983.
