The Kaefferkopf is first recorded in 1338 in the land register of Pairis abbey, as zem Kefersberg, and a court ruling of 1932 delimited the name. It became the 51st Alsace grand cru in 2007, and blends of Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris are allowed there. The steep east and south-east slopes lie between 240 and 350 m above Ammerschwihr.
