Zotzenberg wine, mostly made from Sylvaner, was sold under its own name from the early 20th century, and Sylvaner has been allowed in the grand cru since the 2005 harvest. The vines face mostly due south between 215 and 315 m above Mittelbergheim, on Jurassic marl low on the slope and limestone and marl conglomerates higher up.
