The Vorbourg is recorded as a vineyard producing red wine as early as the 8th century, and it belonged to the bishop of Strasbourg. It forms a narrow, continuous band of steep slopes between 210 and 300 m above Rouffach, mostly facing east-south-east, with the Clos Saint-Landelin facing south-south-east. Since 2022 it is one of three grands crus allowed to make red Pinot Noir.
