The Saering lies between Guebwiller and Bergholtz, on south-east-facing slopes between 260 and 300 m, on sandy marl soils with gravel. In 1877 Charles Gérard cited the 'Séring of the Murbach monks' among the best wines of Guebwiller. It was one of the 24 lieux-dits added to the grands crus in 1983.
