The Kirchberg overlooks Barr on a south-east-facing hillside between 215 and 330 m, with slopes reaching 30 degrees in places. Its brown calcareous soils rest on Bajocian (Middle Jurassic) limestone. It was added to the grands crus in 1983, and red wine from Pinot Noir has been allowed since 2022.
