The Goldert takes its name from the golden colour of its wines. Its slopes face east-south-east between 230 and 330 m above Gueberschwihr, and it is the only Alsace terroir whose bedrock is made solely of marine oolitic limestone. It was one of the 24 lieux-dits added to the grands crus in 1983.
