The Gloeckelberg slopes lie between 250 and 360 m above Rodern, with a very small part in Saint-Hippolyte. Its sandy brown soils sit on porphyroblastic Thannenkirch granite, recognisable by its large potassium feldspar crystals. It was one of the 24 lieux-dits added to the grands crus in 1983.
