Pessac-Léognan was carved out of the northern Graves in 1987 and runs from the southern suburbs of Bordeaux to Léognan. It is famous for both reds and dry whites. It includes Château Haut-Brion, the only red outside the Médoc ranked in 1855, and all the classed growths of the Graves classification.
