Concha y Toro launched Don Melchor with the 1987 vintage, from its Puente Alto vineyard beside the Maipo River. It is named after Don Melchor de Santiago Concha y Toro, who founded the company in 1883. Since 2019 it has had its own winery, Viña Don Melchor.
