Jacques Sauvage became tenant of Yquem in December 1593 and rebuilt the château. In 1785 the heiress Françoise-Joséphine de Sauvage d'Yquem married Louis-Amédée de Lur-Saluces, and the estate stayed with the Lur-Saluces family until LVMH took control between 1996 and 1999. A dry white, Y, has been made since 1959.
