Desmirail began in the 18th century when a daughter of the Rauzan family brought part of the Rauzan estate as a dowry to Jean Desmirail. The estate was broken up between 1937 and 1960, and its manor house went to Marquis d'Alesme Becker. The Lurton family rebuilt the vineyard and relaunched the wine in 1981, based at the former Château Pont-Aubin in Cantenac.
