Gabriel de Vigneau is the first recorded owner, in 1685, and the Baroness de Rayne bought the estate in 1834. It was classified as Vigneau in 1855, the château was rebuilt from 1865 by the architect Louis-Michel Garros, and the name Rayne-Vigneau was adopted after 1892. The château and its park were listed as historic monuments in 2004.
