The Goldtröpfchen is a 66 hectare slate slope on the left bank of the Mosel that curves around Piesport like an amphitheatre. It is thought to be the natural theatre of vines described by the Roman poet Ausonius in his poem Mosella. The name itself is first recorded for the 1868 vintage.
