The Treppchen is a 36 hectare steep slate slope on the left bank of the Mosel, opposite Erden and just downstream from Ürzig. Its name means little staircase, after the steps built into the slope. A climbing path with stairs and ladders now leads into the vines from a Roman wine press by the river.
