The Domdechaney is a 10.5 hectare south-facing vineyard beside the parish church of Hochheim, on the Main just above its meeting with the Rhine. It takes its name from the deans of Mainz Cathedral, who had a summer residence here. The English word hock, once used for all Rhine wine, comes from Hochheim.
