Bonnezeaux is a small appellation for sweet Chenin Blanc on south-facing schist slopes above the Layon river at Thouarcé. Like Quarts de Chaume, it is an enclave of the larger Coteaux du Layon with stricter ripeness rules. The AOC was created in 1951.
