Vouvray lies on the north bank of the Loire just east of Tours and is dedicated almost entirely to Chenin Blanc. Depending on the vintage it makes dry, off-dry, sweet and sparkling wines, many aged in cellars cut into the tuffeau rock. The best sweet wines can age for decades.
