Masseto is a single-vineyard Merlot from a 7-hectare hillside of blue Pliocene clay on the Ornellaia estate. Its first vintage was 1986, sold simply as Merlot, and the name Masseto was used from 1987. Long made at Ornellaia, it now has its own underground cellar beneath the vineyard, first used for the 2018 vintage.
