Gigondas is made only in the commune of Gigondas, on slopes below the jagged limestone peaks of the Dentelles de Montmirail. It was promoted from Côtes du Rhône Villages to its own AOC in 1971. Mostly red and Grenache-based, it is often seen as the little brother of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
