Irouléguy is the only appellation of the French Basque Country, with terraced vineyards in the valleys around Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry and Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Its reds are based on Tannat with the two Cabernets, and it also makes whites and rosés. It became an AOC in 1970.
