The Kirchenstück is a small 3.6 hectare vineyard directly behind the church of Forst, which gave it its name. Sandstone houses and walls around it store the day's heat, giving it a warm microclimate. In the Kingdom of Bavaria's vineyard classification of 1828 it received the highest value of any site.
