Once leased by the Abbey of Saint-Vivant, the vineyard passed to the Croonembourg family in 1631 and was bought in 1760 by the Prince de Conti, whose name it took. Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet bought it in 1869, and his descendants still own it through Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The 1.8-hectare vineyard was replanted in 1947 after the last pre-phylloxera vintage of 1945.
