La Tâche was sold by the Abbey of Saint-Vivant to the Croonembourg family in 1631. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti bought it in 1933 and had most of the neighbouring Les Gaudichots merged into it, bringing it to about 6 hectares. It became a grand cru AOC in 1936.
