La Grande Rue is a narrow strip between Romanée-Conti and La Tâche. It stayed a premier cru when the AOCs were drawn up in the 1930s and was promoted to grand cru by a 1992 decree, effective from the 1991 vintage. The Lamarche family acquired it at auction in 1933.
