Salice Salentino is a Negroamaro-based red from the flat Salento peninsula, around the town of Salice Salentino in the province of Lecce. It became a DOC in 1976, and the local Leone de Castris house released Five Roses, described as the first rosé bottled in Italy, in 1943.
