In 1141 and 1142 the Bishop of Lausanne gave this then uncultivated slope to the Cistercian monks of Hautcrêt and Montheron, who cleared it and planted vines. They kept it until 1536. Dézaley lies in the steep terraces of Lavaux on Lake Geneva, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007.
