Commandaria is an amber sweet wine made from sun-dried Xynisteri and Mavro grapes in 14 villages on the foothills of the Troodos mountains. A dried-grape wine from Cyprus was described by Hesiod around 800 BC, and the name Commandaria dates from the crusades of the 12th century. Its production traditions were added to UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list in 2025.
