Moulin-à-Vent covers parts of Romanèche-Thorins and Chénas and takes its name from an old windmill that still stands among the vines. Before 1936 its wine was sold under the name Romanèche-Thorins; it became an AOC on 11 September 1936. It is often called the king of Beaujolais for its structured, age-worthy reds.
