The Alentejo is Portugal's hot, rolling southern plain. Its separate DOCs and IPRs, including Borba, Évora, Redondo, Reguengos and Vidigueira, were combined as the Alentejo DOC in 2003. Wine fermented in clay talhas is a local tradition dating back to the Romans.
